NFNS Director: Mrs. Amy Gahman

Amy has a bachelor's in Sociology and Psychology with concentrations in Early Child Development and Experimental Psychology from Lebanon Valley College. She has worked for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for 9 years in the Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics and Clinical Research Departments. She also has 5 years departmental management experience while working for a research company. Amy spent most of her college career working in various positions in a daycare/preschool setting. She resides in Green Lane with her husband, Daryl and their 3 daughters Aubrey, Riley and Clara. Aubrey and Riley attend Salford Hills and Riley is a NFNS grad. Clara is excited to start at NFNS in Sept 2015. Amy attends IVFF where she volunteers her time in nursery school, children's church and various other children's ministries. She is also a junior high youth leader. Amy enjoys spending time with her family and friends playing games, going to amusement parks, shopping and loves her home being filled with people and kids! During the Spring and Fall you will find her on the softball field coaching both older daughters' teams and loving every minute of it for Harleysville Girls Softball. Amy is looking forward to her new role and is excited to spend her days at NFNS with all the wonderful children that come through our doors!

Head Teacher: Mrs. Brenda Hartley

Brenda lives in Pennsburg with her husband Paul, their two children, Nathaniel and Alyssa, and a Boston Terrier named Hudson.  Mrs. Hartley has a dual Early Childhood and Elementary Education degree from Millersville University.  She pursued further Master’s studies in Bible and Counseling at Biblical Theological Seminary.  Prior to starting a family, she taught 4th grade at Cornerstone Christian Academy and Kindergarten at The Christian Academy.  She enjoyed being a stay at home mother and home schooling her children for 8 years prior to teaching at New Friends.  In her free time she enjoys gardening, reading, anything creative and crafty, and spending time with her family.

Head Teacher: Mrs. Kelley Leer

Kelly has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a concentration in Early Childhood from the College of St. Elizabeth in North Jersey.  She has worked at NFNS for 12 years. Mrs. Leer has lived in PA for the past 17 years but is a Jersey girl through and through! She comes from a large family that includes 4 brothers and 3 sisters, that’s why the controlled chaos you may hear coming from her classroom can sometimes go unnoticed by Mrs. Leer! (LOL) Mrs. Leer and her husband, Mark have four children and a grandson. Their two youngest children are NFNS graduates!  Mrs. Leer cherishes family time and thank Jesus for her many blessings!!

Assistant Teacher: Mrs. Connie Coombs

Connie is a graduate of Cairn University (formerly Philadelphia Biblical University) and has a bachelor's degree in Bible. She has been an active member of IVFF since 2008, serving in children's ministry, directing Vacation Bible School, Women's ministry and leads a small group along with her husband, Dana. She also worked at Lifeway Christian Stores (formerly Provident Bookstores) in Souderton for over 19 years. She and her husband Dana have twin girls, Maddy & Libby (graduates of NFNS!), who are 8, entering third grade at Oak Ridge Elementary School. Connie loves to travel (especially to Disneyworld!), spend time at her pool with the family, and also enjoys knitting and shopping for a great bargain. Connie is very excited to work at NFNS this year (& working with her sister, Barb Moyer, across the hall from her!).

Assistant Teacher: Mrs. Morgan Landis

Morgan is a 2014 graduate of Eastern University with a BS in Early Childhood Education.  Previously, Morgan worked as a floater at Salford Mennonite Childcare Center and the Haverford Center, while earning her college degree.  She worked at Spruce Lake Wilderness Camp as a Kitchen Assistant for four consecutive summers.  Morgan married Shane Landis in June 2014 at their home church, Franconia Mennonite.  She and her husband live in Souderton with their two pet turtles, Little Guy (16) and Myrtle (1.5).  She is actively involved at Franconia Mennonite Church by singing on the worship team, being one of the Sunday school teachers for 2-year olds, being a junior high leader with her husband, and an active participant of the young adult group.  She also works for R&J Farm Market part-time when she is not working here at NFNS.  Some of her favorite things include snow, taking and editing pictures, visiting with her 2.5 month old niece, baking, gardening, cleaning, camping, boating, listening to and singing with music, and spending time with family and friends! 

Assistant Teacher: Mrs. Tiffany Landis

Tiffany is a graduate of Messiah College with a BS in Elementary Education and Special Education.  She and her husband Joel live in Telford and attend Franconia Mennonite Church.  Mrs. Landis and Joel have a daughter named Clara who just turned one! They also have a small "farm" with a flock of 12 chickens and two cats named Knox and Charley. On her days off from New Friends Mrs. Landis used to teach at Hilltop Preschool but now she enjoys those days at home with Clara. 

Assistant Teacher: Mrs. Barbara Moyer

Barbara is a graduate of Gwynedd Mercy College with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary/Early Childhood Education. Mrs. Moyer is a member of Souderton Mennonite Church where she is active in both children's ministry and women's ministry. She was a former preschool teacher at Indian Valley Nursery School and a kindergarten teacher at Quakertown Christian School. Mrs. Moyer and her husband Randy live in Souderton with their 3 daughters - Cara, 13, entering 7th grade at Penn View Christian School, Chloe, 6, entering 1st grade at West Broad Elementary and Claire, 5, entering kindergarten at West Broad. Her hobbies include gardening, crafting and also shopping for a good bargain (like her sister Connie Coombs!).

Wednesday Enrichment & Substitute Teacher: Mrs. Alicia Alderfer

Alicia was one of New Friends’ first teachers when the school began in 1987. In 2000, she stayed home to be with her two children, Corrine and Trent, who are now 17 and 14. Although substituting during those years, in 2013 she returned to teach the Wednesday Enrichment class. Mrs. Alderfer has an associate degree in Early Childhood Education from MCCC, and additional schooling at Gwynedd Mercy College for her Pennsylvania Teaching Certification for Private Preschool and Kindergarten. She also has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Albright College. Alicia attends Indian Valley Faith Fellowship where she teaches Sunday School for preschoolers, serves on the missions committee and sings on the worship team. She lives with her husband, Dan, and family in Schwenksville where they enjoy biking together. Mrs. Alderfer also enjoys volleyball, bowling, and quilting.
